1000-lb Sisters star Amanda Halterman is bouncing back after a devastating breakup, and she is rubbing her happiness in her ex-boyfriend’s face. The series centers around the weight loss journeys of 36-year-old Amy Slaton and 37-year-old Tammy Slaton, but their other siblings have been along for the ride. Because she was going through a divorce the whole time, 43-year-old Amanda didn’t appear on the show until season 4. Though she wasn’t on the show during the first few years, Amanda has always been close to Tammy, Amy, and her siblings.
The siblings grew up together in Indiana, and, unlike her siblings, Amanda didn’t have any issues with her weight growing up. While the other Slatons struggled with their weight from childhood, Amanda didn’t start putting on weight until after she got married and had children. After years of struggling, Amanda had her second bariatric surgery in March 2023, and the 1000-lb Sisters season 5 star looks like a different person. She even found love again after her divorce, but the relationship ended recently, and Amanda is moving on.

Worst Way To Get Dumped
Amanda and RJ met in 2023 and fell head over heels in love. In February, Amanda posted a now-deleted photo of her and her man on TikTok, with the song “Little Life” by Cordelia playing in the background. In the image, which was taken at the beach, RJ’s face is only partially visible as he kisses the back of Amanda’s head. Amanda’s caption reads, “@RJV I love life with you, Can’t wait to be back on the beach!!”
Fast-forward to June, Amanda posted another now-deleted TikTok explaining her boyfriend, RJ, had ghosted her. According to Amanda’s TikTok, she hadn’t seen her boyfriend since May 1, even though they lived together. He had left town to visit his family and never returned. Amanda was supposed to meet RJ in Kentucky in late May, but he never showed up. Amanda reached out to him repeatedly, but he wouldn’t respond. She also tried contacting members of his family, and none of them responded to her either.
Amanda’s boyfriend disappeared without a trace.
During the now-deleted clip, Amanda also revealed this wasn’t even the first time RJ ghosted her. She does admit that this time, he has stayed away longer. The breakup was painful because Amanda moved from Kentucky to Florida to be with RJ, leaving her family behind to follow her heart. Before Amanda deleted the TikTok, it had garnered over 33K likes, and the caption read, “#breakup #itisfinished accepting applications for my future husband.”
Amanda Continues On Her Weight Loss Journey
She Looks Thinner Than Ever
Amanda had bariatric surgery for the first time in 2014, long before appearing on 1000-lb Sisters. Amanda lost over 300 pounds after that initial surgery but found herself gaining back the weight. During 1000-lb Sisters season 5, there was a scene where Amanda and her other sister, Misty Wentworth, spoke to Amy, Tammy, and their brother, 41-year-old Chris Combs, about potentially undergoing weight loss surgery.
During the discussion, the Slatons talked about their fears regarding the weight loss procedure, which can include complications and even death.
Since Tammy, Amy, and Chris have all undergone the surgery, they understand that the procedure can be dangerous. Thankfully, Amanda and Misty made it through the surgery with flying colors. Though it’s not known how much weight Amanda has lost, she looks significantly thinner than before surgery. In March, Amanda posted to TikTok that it was the first anniversary of her surgery, or “surgeversary,” where she looked dramatically thinner than when she first appeared on the show.
Amanda Has Been Focused On Family
She’s Living With Amy And Her Boys
As always, Amanda has leaned on her family to help her through. Amanda has been having a great time with her family and posting photos to rub in RJ’s face. After the devastating breakup, Amanda had no reason to stay in Florida, so she moved back to Kentucky to stay with Amy. In June, Amanda posted several photos to TikTok of herself holding Amy’s sons, Gage and Glenn Halterman, and a third unidentified child. The post’s caption reads, “If you think my lap is full you should see my heart.”
Amy and Amanda are two sisters who married two brothers. In other words, Amy’s ex-husband is the brother of Amanda’s ex-husband, Jason Halterman. Amy’s husband, Michael, was a regular on the show until he filed for divorce in 2023. The couple were newlyweds when the series premiered and always seemed happy. After their children were born, Amy often felt she didn’t have enough support from Michael.
The marriage fell apart on camera during 1000-lb Sister season 5.
The Slatons Haven’t Always Been Lucky In Love

The Slatons have never been lucky in love. Amanda and Amy aren’t the only divorced Slatons. Chris divorced his first wife but is happily married to his second wife, Brittany Combs. After several bad boyfriends, Tammy finally met and married a nice guy named Caleb Willingham, but the 41-year-old died just a few months after the wedding due to health complications. Unlike her siblings, 48-year-old Misty Wentworth is still married to her first husband. Though Amanda finds herself single again, the 1000-lb Sisters star has hopefully learned about what she wants in her next relationship.
