Although most 90 Day Fiancé fans hope to never see them back on the show, I have a feeling Mary Demasu-ay and Brandan DeNuccio are gearing up for another season. Brandan and Mary were first seen in The Other Way season 5 as a young couple waiting to meet each other after two years of online dating. Brandan didn’t have a stable upbringing and was living out of an RV stationed outside his godparents’ workplace. Brandan had been doing odd jobs to send over $60,000 to the Philippines so Mary could build a house for them and her loved ones.
However, Mary didn’t like Brandan going to work. He was fired from multiple places for being on video calls with her. Meanwhile, Mary claimed she had to drop out of college when she lost her dance scholarship because Brandan didn’t want her to dance with men. It didn’t stop Mary from disconnecting her Wi-Fi and going out with her male friends. It was just one of the instances that made Brandan and Mary’s love story so chaotic for me. As much as I hate to admit it, they deliver the drama I want from my reality TV shows.

A newly introduced couple rarely makes as much noise in the franchise as Mary and Brandan did upon their 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 5 debut. Their first-ever scene together with Brandan using the bathroom and Mary talking to him over a video call was enough to make me and thousands of fans curious about their relationship dynamic. I wanted to know more about the couple and why they were so co-dependent that they ate, watched TV, shopped, slept, and went to the bathroom together – even when they weren’t together in person.
It was nothing like any relationship I’ve watched on 90 Day Fiancé before. Mary had a serious look on her face when she admitted she fell for Brandan because he looked like a cross between Harry Potter and Justin Bieber. She wanted to date an American man because she loved the British fictional character and the Canadian singer. Nonetheless, Mary fought with him almost every day when he was friendly with other women. I couldn’t wait to see how she would react when she spent time with him in person.

The show was great at foreshadowing her pregnancy when Mary’s elderly grandparents told her to be careful and not to hold hands with Brandan, but Mary was a rebel. She couldn’t resist kissing him at the airport and was pregnant within a few weeks of his arrival in the Philippines. Photos of Mary and Brandan’s wedding leaked online after fans discovered them on Brandan’s mom Angela’s Facebook. It was Angela who also spoiled the couple’s storyline.
Mary and Brandan are one of the most interesting 90 Day Fiancé couples I’ve come across.
She was spotted suggesting she was having a grandchild in one of her posts. I stumbled upon a video from Mary’s TikTok live where she was making a protein shake for Brandan, and a baby was heard in the background. The show didn’t confirm Mary’s pregnancy, so she quickly muted the audio. Once it was revealed Mary was pregnant on the show, she hinted at baby number 2 by sharing a photo of Brandan cradling her baby bump. Mary liked a comment that said, “Is this baby # 2?? Congratulations.” She wanted to get people talking.

While I don’t like the way these cast members behave towards their partners on screen, I can’t deny they are the ones that get the most attention from viewers, even if it’s negative. If Angela didn’t want Michael to have social media and Jasmine asked Gino to send “evidence and reports” when they were in a long-distance relationship, Mary wanted Brandan to be on a video call with her 24/7. She’d gone above and beyond anything that Jasmine and Angela had done.

Brandan and Mary were allegedly fired from the franchise, as stated by 90 Day Fiancé franchise alum Statler Riley on TikTok. Statler reportedly did a TikTok live in August 2023, where she seemingly claimed Brandan and Mary were fired because they shared personal information about their relationship online. However, Statler denied the rumors. I haven’t come across any statement from Mary and Brandan about them being dropped from the show, and the network hasn’t commented on it either. This is the biggest clue that the couple could star in a new spin-off

Mary Tricked Fans Once Again – Were The Cameras Rolling?
Mary offended fans the most after claiming she had colon cancer and later withdrew the claim. They even started a fundraising campaign to help raise money to support her cancer surgery. Fans sent money to Mary, only for it to be removed online. Mary later confirmed she made a mistake and apologized to her followers as she had UTI and hemorrhoids, not colon cancer. If Mary’s false diagnosis was caught on camera along with her fundraising dilemma, it would give her and Brandan enough content to be in a new season.

Mary and Brandan are often compared to another controversial couple, Paul and Karine Staehle. Like Brandan, Paul is an oddball who left America to live with Karine in Brazil. Paul showed a lack of trust in Karine, which led to their relationship troubles. There were constant allegations of cheating and zero trust between them, but for whatever reason, Paul and Karine got married. Like Brandan and Mary, the couple’s relationship was built on distrust and cheating allegations. Karine and Paul appeared in several seasons of the show, and I think Brandan and Mary will as well.

Mary and Brandan have been facing financial issues in the Philippines. Their store idea flopped, and Mary’s cancer controversy didn’t make them much money. They tried to sell Filipino snacks, bracelets, and artwork on social media, but that was a terrible decision as well. I recently came across a TikTok update from the couple, where they were asking fans to send donations so they could build their ceiling. Mary and Brandan want fans to donate $1 each so they can complete their house and protect their daughter Midnight from bugs and lizard droppings.
I see Brandan realizing he could have a better life in America and relocate there with Mary and Midnight; they could have already started their visa process. Mary adjusting to her new life in America, where she might not be able to control Brandan as much as he does in the Philippines, could be the beginning of their new storyline on 90 Day Fiancé. There’s always a chance of it happening since Mary might be able to fulfill her dreams of becoming a dancer in the U.S., and that’s something the show won’t mind documenting.
