The 90 Day Fiance celeb sported traditional African clothes to impress her in-laws. However, she and her parents were shocked after Kobe’s family demanded the pair walk down the aisle again. They wanted the couple to marry in a typical Cameroonian way to seek their ancestor’s blessings.
But Emily and her family freaked out after knowing what they were required to do to honor the Blaise family’s culture. Still, the American native was ready to do anything for her husband’s happiness. Now, it seems her parents are reluctant to adopt the African culture. Recently, Emily’s mom, Lisa, came under fire for not respecting Kobe’s tradition.

90 Day Fiance stars Emily and Kobe have been making efforts to make their Cameroon trip successful. They have taken steps to make the latter’s family happy and seek their blessings. However, Emily and her family didn’t know that a big surprise was waiting for them. The Beieberly family was in utter shock after Kobe’s parents asked him to marry Emily again in their tradition.
The Blaise family recently informed Emily’s parents, Lisa and David, about what they were required to do as part of their tradition. They explained to the family about the ‘Knock Door’ ceremony, where they would receive the ‘bride price’ from the groom’s family. David understood that it was just a sign of appreciation from the groom’s family and nothing else.
Sadly, the tradition didn’t quite sit well with Lisa, and she felt as if the family was buying Emily in exchange for gifts and money. She said, “Well, either way, it feels like we’re taking money for a person, that’s what it feels like.” The celeb was angry at everyone, thinking that she was not getting the tradition. Moreover, she added, “I get it that it’s his tradition; it’s not my tradition.”
However, fans think Lisa should be more lenient about her son-in-law’s tradition. Several viewers started calling out the reality TV celeb on X after the episode. One angry fan said, “Kobe respected their traditions. Why can’t Emily’s mom respect him?” Meanwhile, others felt that she should just honor their tradition out of respect. Someone further called Lisa and David “so damn ignorant.”

The TLC pair recently decided to invite the former’s friends to a club to lighten things between them. However, the Cameroonian native had no idea that his friends would start ganging up on his wife.
The TLC star’s friends were lecturing him to be a subservient traditional wife. They tried cutting her off during the entire conversation and made Emily storm out of the club. Finally, Kobe understood that his friend would not respect his wife and disinvited them for their wedding.
