1000 Lb Sisters

1000-Lb Sisters: “Play Misty For Me!”

1000-lb Sisters star Misty Slaton Wentworth has lost a substantial amount of weight since undergoing bariatric surgery, and has updated her look. The series premiered in 2020, and it’s centered on the weight-loss journeys of sisters Tammy Slaton and Amy Slaton, but other members of the Slaton family have joined in for their own weight-loss journeys, including their step-sister, Misty. She grew up with Tammy, Amy, and their other siblings in Shawneetown, Illinois, and is still very close with the whole Slaton clan.

Like her two famous sisters, Misty developed an unhealthy relationship with food at an early age. They were raised by a single mother who worked multiple jobs to support five children. The children often had to feed themselves, so they ate a lot of junk food because it was cheaper and easier to prepare. As Misty grew into adulthood, she put on more and more weight, especially after she had four children. Misty had bariatric surgery in March 2023, several months before 1000-lb Sisters season 5 started filming. Scroll down for photos of Misty’s weight-loss progress.

Misty Slaton Wows In Purple

3 Months After Bariatric Surgery

In March 2023, Misty had bariatric surgery performed by Dr. Eric Smith. Dr. Smith had also treated Tammy and another Slaton sibling, Chris Combs. It is unclear exactly how much weight Misty has lost since the procedure. Unlike her famous sisters, she has pursued her weight loss in relative privacy. Unlike Tammy, Amy, and Chris, Misty hasn’t stepped on scales during episodes of 1000-lb Sisters. She is generally quieter than the rest of her siblings, and isn’t one to draw attention to herself.

It is, however, clear from looking at Misty that she has lost a considerable amount of weight.

In June 2023, Misty’s other sister, Amanda Halterman, posted several photos to TikTok from the Slaton family vacation to Florida, which was highlighted during 1000-lb Sisters season 5. Misty appears in several photos, including one in which she’s wearing a purple bathing suit. Since this was only three months after surgery, she had only just embarked on her journey. The photos were hilariously posted to the tune of Bounce When She Walk by Ohboyprince.

Misty In Baby Blue

6 Months After Bariatric Surgery

In October 2023, which was about six months after Misty received weight loss surgeryMisty posted a TikTok in which she looked considerably thinner than before her weight loss surgery. In the clip, she is wearing a light blue sweatshirt and rocking a new haircut that really showed off her dramatically slimmed down face. Her sister, Amanda, makes an appearance in the video, as the sisters meet up for their weekly self-care date. In addition to being sisters, Amanda and Misty are best friends.

As Amy and Tammy’s beloved older sister, Misty has been guiding her siblings over the years.

She has been by Amy and Tammy’s sides as they embarked on their weight-loss journeys during 1000-lb Sisters, while also pursuing her own weight-loss goals. Before shedding the pounds, Misty was taking multiple diabetes medications to keep her blood sugar in a healthy range. Since Misty had bariatric surgery, she lost enough weight to stop needing the medication. Being healthy enough to regulate her blood sugar levels without medication is a significant milestone that Misty deserves to be proud of.

Misty Looks Slimmer Than Ever In Black

10 Months After Bariatric Surgery

1000-lb Sisters: Tammy, Chris, Amanda and Misty Working Out in Trash Bags (Clip)

Though it’s unclear how much weight Misty has lost since receiving weight-loss surgery, she looked like a different person in a December 2023 TikTok post. This clip was filmed about 10 months after Misty’s bariatric surgery and, in the looped image, Misty’s face is almost unrecognizable, as she is skinnier than she had ever been.

In response to the post, her sister, Amanda Halterman, wrote, ” Big sis is the littlest sis now. I am so proud of you @Doll1976 always have been. You are my goals. There are no words to express how thankful I am to call you my big sis. Love you. ”

During an episode of 1000-Lb. Sisters Season 5, Amanda Halterman and Misty Wentworth speak to Tammy, Amy, and Chris about wanting to undergo bariatric surgery. During the discussion, the Slatons discuss their fears about the procedure. Since Tammy, Amy, and Chris have all had the surgery, they understand the risks better than most people. “Hearing Amanda and Misty get worked up about the surgery and them not making it out, it’s scary,” Amy said. “One slip and, oop, Amanda’s gone, or, oop, Misty’s gone. I need my sisters, not only because they’re my support system, but it’s family.

Despite their siblings’ concerns, not only did Misty and Amanda both end up getting bariatric surgery, they both had surgery with the same doctor, and on the same day.

Slaton’s Weight Loss Journeys

Family Matters

Watching Amy and Tammy has been a crucial part of Amanda’s journey to lose weight. Amy has lost 125 pounds since the show premiered, while Tammy has lost over 400 pounds. Not to be left out, Chris lost over 150 pounds through a combination of diet, exercise, and weight-loss surgery. It’s unclear how much Amanda has lost, but she has also looked much slimmer since surgery. Fans of the show have enjoyed watching the Slaton’s lose all their weight over the years and have felt inspired by their incredible, impressive journeys.

“ Our whole family’s big .”

In an interview with People, Tammy and Amy have traced the origins of their weight gain back to their childhoods. They attribute it to genetics, emotional eating, and socioeconomic factors. “I’ve always had a weight issue,” said Tammy. “I was born 9 lbs. 10 oz., and then I just kept gaining.” “Our whole family’s big,” Amy added. Luckily, Tammy, Amy, and the other Slaton siblings are working on breaking the cycle once and for all.
